Evelyn Hayward, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully on Saturday night.

Evelyn’s life was one of service, faith, and love. As a loyal Navy wife and during her years as a civil servant, she worked tirelessly to ensure the welfare of others. As a Sunday School teacher in churches for over 40 years, she set an example of integrity and hope for the children in her care. As a mother and grandmother, she balanced discipline with tenderness, preparing her children to be strong, compassionate people.

She was a long-time member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, where she was well-loved. She studied accounting at college and worked as an accountant for many years.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Qualls, her mother, Edna Qualls, and her five brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Donald Roy Hayward; her sons Donald James Hayward, Jeffrey Lawrence, Jeffrey Hayward, and Mitchell Hayward; her daughters Julie Helms and Jennifer McCammond; her grandson Zach Lawrence; and her granddaughter Jessica Hayward.

Special thanks to Hospice for their kindness and care in the final months of her life.

Visitation will be held at the Trahan Family Funeral Home, 419 Yoakum Court, on Wednesday night from 5:00pm-7:00pm. The funeral service will be held at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church, on Thursday morning at 10:00am. The interment will follow at Clopton Cemetery behind East Brent Baptist Church.
